What is LEADER+?
LEADER+ is an acronym for "Liaison Entre Actions de Development De l'Economie Rurale". The translation of this is "Links between actions for the development of the rural economy". The "+" means that this is the third phase of LEADER funding.
LEADER+ is a six year European Union funding initiative to support small-scale rural development initiatives. It was established to encourage local people to develop projects that address local problems. Through LEADER+, it is also possible to develop links with other communities within the UK and across Europe that are facing similar problems and opportunities, in order to share ideas and experience.
LEADER+ Programmes are overseen by the local community through a Local Action Group which is made up of representatives from the community and voluntary groups as well as the private and public sector.
What does this mean for North West Devon?
